“Quite the locale.” Says a young lady perfectly poised on a couch. (Naturally she’s picked out the fanciest couch available, complete with velvet seats and gold trim.) She’s been settled there for the past hour or so, not saying much of anything and just watching.
She still keeps her eyes wandering as she speaks, taking in everything she can and mentally cataloguing it away.
”Very well then, since it is apparently good form to ask a question here… how would any of you handle a situation where you’re outnumbered? Or more specifically, when your resources are diminished compared to before, and there are still obstacles ahead of you.”
((OOC: Testing the waters on an AU concept! The fine details/info probably won’t come up, but they are a driving background force and are written up on the character journal!))

The atmosphere here delights him, just as most unknown territory tends to do. He's especially entertained by those obviously dressed and carrying themselves as warriors and fighters. It distracts him from the girl temporarily.

"Akihiko? You found your way in here as well?" And... now she feels just the slightest bit self conscious. As gaudy as that sign was, and as unexpected as it is to walk through a doorway and find herself here... does that really excuse her missing someone else making it through?
"I... I believe I have an idea on your answer, I suppose." She tries to cover that bit of awkwardness with a reply. "The odds are likely that you're still willing and ready to fight."

"That's right." Those with strength will persevere, he believes. "This place feels a bit like Tartarus." He doesn't feel burdened by its presence, and obviously it's lacking shadows and filled with more than just grandiose decor.

"It's too early to say if the risk and danger is the same as Tartarus." Mitsuru drops her voice lower as she speaks, making this into much more of a private conversation. "I'd suggest a small measure of caution, however."
It's only AFTER she says that, that Mitsuru remembers just who it is she's talking to.

He takes a seat, also with intent to close their conversation off from the public. And he knows better than to invade Mitsuru's personal space. It's all natural instinct. And a need to avoid icy punishment.
"I'm ready for anything." His confidence is shining bright this afternoon.

Come to think of it, had that door always been there? The situation grows more curious, as shown by the thin, thoughtful line her lips take.
"That is precisely my point, Akihiko. I'm not certain of the rules this place follows, and what the limits are, if any. As such, one truly should be ready for anything... and perhaps begin making a list of how many doors in our city lead to this place."

With all that implies. Still, they will face the evening back in Iwatodai as it comes, and not fret over it before then. And in the meantime, there's still conversations to pursue here.
"A reason-?"
Don't ask.
Don't ask.
Don't-
"What would that reason be?"
...Curiosity. It is indeed a damning trait at times.
