Sonic might've had chances. Hell, he might've had the best damn role models in the village. But no one really bothered with him, not when his twin was so much better at everything. Never mind that Sonic was the gifted one. Never mind that he excelled without really trying. Now there's nothing lift but bitterness, resentment, and a driving need to prove himself to anyone who'll pay attention.

The darkness never really goes away. You just either learn to live with it, or you don't live.

Since Roman was so kind as to applaud his little display, Sonic thanks him with a bow, then arches his eyebrows with an amused smirk as Roman steps closer. Was that supposed to be intimidating? Perhaps flirtation? Whatever it is, it's cute, and Sonic chuckles quietly to himself, his hands resting on his hips.

"Depends on the monster." It's the most unhelpful answer, but it's also the most accurate. "They're also known as Mysterious Beings, since no one can really quite figure out where they come from, or why. But I've seen everything from Kaiju to anthropomorphic fish with hearts where the nipples would be on a mammal to deranged, super-powered accountants. Sometimes there's cyborgs, sometimes there's aliens. If you can imagine it, it's probably attacked some city somewhere."
