[Good policy. ;) I'm not sure how familiar you are with the rebooted Star Trek films, but as of this thread Jim was between the first and second films. Most of the second film's plot takes place over the course of a day, and I've already run through some of the aftermath with losthunter on Jim's journal. The Enterprise is currently in dry dock for a very long set of repairs (in canon it takes about a year before they get sent back out on missions), and Jim will be on medical leave for a bit (he died and then got better), so he's going to have more free time than he knows what to do with for a while.
