Verity's in her favorite seat in the forum, drinking coffee and trying to read a book that's frustrating her. It isn't long before she puts it down with a scowl aimed at the cover (or possibly the concept of books). "Does anyone understand Norse mythology? Is that a thing? Because I do not get it."

"Alternately, any suggestions for hobbies for someone with lots of time and few skills? Preferably things that aren't group activities."

((A note about Verity: she's got a magic spell stuck in her that lets her always know when someone is lying to her. Please respect this; if your character is trying to lie to her, please make that known so she can react appropriately.))

She can't help but roll her eyes at that one. It's a contractual obligation. "And now you bring me puns. What did I do to deserve this?"

"You asked for tips?" Now, he can't help himself.

He should get help for that inability to help himself.

"You're right, this is clearly all my fault. Nothing to do with your wicked carni-folk ways or lack of waffles or anything."

She shakes her head a little, the way you do with that one friend when that one friend is getting silly. And considering her social circle, he should be really worried if he's that one friend for her.

"So what you're saying is I should just be glad you don't insist all the food be on sticks forever?"

It's almost like encouragement. "Oh, I'd never do that. It'd be really hard to have a drink. No, I'm saying be glad I didn't suggest you set up a squirt gun and a clown face with a balloon nose."

She shudders. Fucking clowns. "No clowns." She thought she'd made that clear.

"Okay, sorry. I thought if you were shooting them... no. Got it."

She's going to be watching you now Barton. You're trying to sneak clowns into her life and that is not cool.

"I don't think my landlord would want me to take up darts or archery. Do you have any suggestions that aren't based on projectile weapons?"

He just didn't realize how all-encompassing and ironclad the no-clown rule was. Lesson learned.

"Well, I could never stand sudoku, but I hear some people swear by it. Uhm, puzzles? Models? Collecting something?"

"Collecting something sounds suspiciously like trying to make me go outside." Again with the squinty-eyed look. (Just remember, in an emergency, you can buy your way back into her better graces with those amazing waffles.)

"Models might be fun."

"Only, like, leaves, or pressed flowers. You could collect coins, or stamps, or something, and always spot the fakes."

"Models, hey, there we go."

"Do I look like a philatelist to you?" Really, Clint. She's not that lame or that old.

"Do you have hobbies? Besides following me around I mean."

"I, uh... what?" Or something was on that list, too.

"Mostly the archery. And, uh, other target-stuff. Like, if you hold a quarter on your thumb and snap your fingers just right, you can bust a beer bottle with it."

"A philatelist is a stamp collector." Ooh, look who's read the dictionary a few dozen times.

"You... really? You're going to have to show me that trick sometime. Someplace where I don't have to clean it up." Or try and get a quarter out of her wall.

"Right. Thanks."

Clint grins. "Does your building have roof access?"

"Yeah, we have roof access..." Wait. He just invited himself over didn't he? "I suppose you expect me to provide the beer too?"

"Nah, I'll bring the beer. What's your brand?"

She shrugs. "I usually get whatever's at the farmer's market that week."

"Craft brew, fancy. I'll find a good one, then."

"I don't drink much beer so it might as well be good, right?"

"That's a good way of thinking of it."

"It's better than having to think I'm a lush with too much money. That would be a problem."
