"Hey, uh . . . anyone here ever had to, you know . . . reconnect with anyone before?"

The question comes from a man seated at the edge of the forum. A heavy, fringed overcoat is draped over the back of the speaker's chair, and he's kicked his pair of dusty boots up on a nearby tabletop. Overall, it looks like the man would be more at home in the American west: he wears a bolo tie and bandana around his neck, embroidered denim shirt, heavy belt buckle holding up crossed gun holsters and reinforced jeans. The tanned, scarred skin of his face contrasts starkly with his shaggy white hair. At a glance, he appears to be (at least) in his late 40's, but his eyes have a youthful, fiery spark to them.

The gunslinger swings his boots down off the table so he can sit forward and pour himself another shot from a brown-bagged bottle.

"Family in particular?" He adds before taking a swig.

Loki grins. "Not just anyone. I tricked the actual devil." He feels (justifiably, he thinks) quite proud of that particular accomplishment. "I tricked the devil into tricking the Serpent, I tricked the king of the fire giants into lending me the shadow of his sword and destroying the stronghold of my enemy, and I tricked all the fear lords into stalemating each other fighting over something none of them will ever let the others have."

He takes a little bow--it's so good to be appreciated! "Well, we all have our strengths."

Jesse does a poor job at hiding his skepticism. Everything so far was easy to take in, but now he's wondering if they've just veered into imagination territory. Then again, he did stumble into some kind of hub-world.

He just smiles indulgently. "That's a fun story, kid. Almost sounds like it could be an old myth!"

"Even better!" he counters, beaming. "They're new myths! Although there was some margin-scribbling on an old one, in there. Old myth, I mean, not an Old One. I'm not sure they have margins..."

He crosses his arms over his chest. "I'm new here, as it happens. Seems this place is where all sorts of worlds overlap? If that's the case, where the hell do you hail from, then? Where do you find all these serpents and giants and shit to play tricks on?"

"All over the Nine Realms!" he answers cheerfully, then offers by way of explanation, "I'm Loki." The last names and titles aren't usually necessary.
