ofstories: (things are shaping up to be pretty odd)

took a wrong turn at albuquerque

Loki can always appreciate the little nooks and crannies of existence, the in-between appealing to certain facets of his nature. How he found himself there wasn't so important as what he did there, and now he's sprawled in a comfortable lounge chair in the Forum. The shabby, shoeless god doesn't take long before he decides to put his own contribution out there.

"Let's set the stage, shall we?" he calls just before he leaps abruptly to his feet on the chair.

"Congratulations, you've won! You return from a great quest with the glory and the girl or boy or whatever you sought as yours. Hear the cheers of the crowd. Yay, you!" People near him might even hear that hypothetical jubilation briefly, an echoing illusion that fades as he waves it away. "Or maybe none of that, and you came out of it with a bit of personal satisfaction and a friend." (If one misplaced momentarily. Problematic, that.) "Things were going so well, and yet, right now, right now, you're waiting around for what comes after."

"You're as free as a bird, so..." He's made a switch to a more conversational tone as he drops back down into his seat. "What d'you reckon you'd do next? What story would you spin?"

Hope you don't mind a little bit of 4th wall. I won't mind editing it out otherwise.

Now that he had a name to the man's face, both brows went upward. His brother would happen to be Thor, right? Apparently, everything and anything went in the Nexus. Declan had not been around here long, but he was starting to accept this. He didn't read much Marvel, and it had been a while since he sat down and actually read anything.

Declan held back on the start of possibly many questions, even as he was becoming more inquisitive. It took a moment for him to regain his bearings. "So... before I got to know Lori, and then Kyle, I didn't really know anyone who were genuinely nice, and trustworthy." He sat back in his chair, and kept eye contact. "There are dudes I'd hang out with, play a sport with, and share classes with. But they can be jerks. They're not as fun when drunk."

Good to know!

"Light beer or lager, in this case." Declan smiled and shook his head slightly. This was strange, and silly to him, sharing this with someone he recognized from comics. The cosmos or whoever thought it would be a good idea to create the Nexus had to think it was hilarious.

Yet, Declan continued. He didn't have much to hide in sharing this part of his life, as ordinary and typical as it was for most guys his age. "They tend to get into really stupid, petty stuff, especially at parties on the weekends. And I don't stay around when that happens..." He sighed. "I've screwed up a few times without being under the influence."

He had to roll his eyes a bit as he quipped, "Peer pressure. A teenager's life can't be normal without it, right?" He thought a brief moment on how to continue from here.

"Lori's got a good sense of wrong and right though. Her step-brother, newest member of her family, even more so."
