Loki can always appreciate the little nooks and crannies of existence, the in-between appealing to certain facets of his nature. How he found himself there wasn't so important as what he did there, and now he's sprawled in a comfortable lounge chair in the Forum. The shabby, shoeless god doesn't take long before he decides to put his own contribution out there.
"Let's set the stage, shall we?" he calls just before he leaps abruptly to his feet on the chair.
"Congratulations, you've won! You return from a great quest with the glory and the girl or boy or whatever you sought as yours. Hear the cheers of the crowd. Yay, you!" People near him might even hear that hypothetical jubilation briefly, an echoing illusion that fades as he waves it away. "Or maybe none of that, and you came out of it with a bit of personal satisfaction and a friend." (If one misplaced momentarily. Problematic, that.) "Things were going so well, and yet, right now, right now, you're waiting around for what comes after."
"You're as free as a bird, so..." He's made a switch to a more conversational tone as he drops back down into his seat. "What d'you reckon you'd do next? What story would you spin?"

(And, alas, little does Loki realize that some kind of anti-flirtation edict had been laid down well before any chance at flirting could happen. Unreasonable, that.)
Loki isn't offended by Kirk, but she is wildly curious. If she hadn't been so amused by his startled response, she would have immediately gone to being nosy. This buys him a brief reprieve.
"Dunno if I'd recommend it. I like unabashed hedonism as much as anyone," she admits freely, adding, "but it might start to chafe."
I'm so sorry I forgot to check this I am the dumb
PLEASE just get over here before he/she gropes me and I get in trouble.
Gulp.
"They don't have lube in god-land then?" Jim seriously stop this conversation. It was not your brightest choice to begin with. Also, breaking request from sibling already. "I mean, this is gonna sound really weird and sudden, but I know you. Not like we've met before, but more like...I think you dated my adopted sister. And I'm...not...sure? How to approach this."
Obligatory response is...
Geez, Jim. She has told you that. Admittedly, you might have been drunk every time this came up...
Still. Just like a terrier. Fearless, disobedient, and with really great hair.

It's not too often that Loki looks utterly nonplussed, but this is a special occasion.
"Being needlessly opaque is usually my stock-in-trade." She is not always at her most graceful when the thread of the narrative had escaped her entirely. Loki is judging now, judging, and in no small amounts. She could have teased Kirk outrageously and to no end, but that game is spiked now.

"I'm with her." Jim jerks a thumb Verity's way, and then licks at his lip and blinks quickly when he realizes how that came out. "Not like---with her with her, but we're related? And you guys apparently didn't date either which, you know, kind of doesn't explain why I'm in trouble for talking to you."
He senses the eyebrow before it happens.
"Flirting with you. Which, I swear I didn't know it was you when I did, by the by." Jim just stop. You sound like Clint right now.

"Jim adopted me," she explains after a too-long moment of just looking. "He's my little brother now. Clearly, he needs someone looking after him. Can you believe someone gave him a whole spaceship?"

Making one's own family in unorthodox ways is a bit of a thing in her culture, so that's not terribly odd. She certainly doesn't feel a hint of jealousy at that bond, sly and secret within her. Well, perhaps a bit.
She gets it now, and can't keep her lips from pressing into a distinct smirk. Verity offers clarity to what Loki can only assume was Jim's suppressed sexual panic, though she can't imagine where the man got the whole dating idea. She cares far too much for her to ever date her, and she's positive that's a truth of her prior incarnation as well.
"Dunno if that's frightening or funny. Both, maybe. Have you considered a leash?" Though she's clearly addressing Verity, her gaze flicks to Kirk. "The kind for wayward Midgardian children, with the harness."

And oddly enough, the same is true about Jim. He knows he's shit at relationships, so there's no way he'd subject Verity to that.
"I'll have you know I am great at my job." So much sulk. The youngest brother sulk.

All these pretty people protecting her. It would almost be flattering if it weren't for that whole belief she has that she should be allowed to make her own decisions. And the fact she would never, ever have dated Jim. At least Clint can't try to spin that story to himself.
Silly boys. All of them.
"I'll leave the leash part for his new boyfriend, but don't think it isn't tempting to send them both to their rooms without dessert when they've been naughty."

This, Loki thinks, must be good for Verity.
"D'you know... that sounds like the start of a short-run network comedy. Very quirky ensemble cast."

The three of them are good for each other. In ways none of them can comprehend. In ways Jim doesn't believe exist. Little by little, he's learning how to trust again.
"Ugh, I had enough of cameras dealing with the press. No thanks." Jim loves being the center of attention, but not when it involves a dedicated make up specialist, hair stylist and ten people brething down his neck about his every word and gesture.

"And here I thought things were going so well with Felix." Don't try to learn the secrets of the eyebrow, Jim, for it is a great power and great responsibility.
Shifting her attention to Loki, she asks, "Would it have to be a network? That seems far too restrictive for you."
