Single Guard Seeks Thief…

...Wait, no, not that way.

Having been absent from his post for a couple of weeks or so, Felix is once again in Legion leathers and stationed outside the heavy rune-inscribed doors that mark ‘his’ portal. He’s sitting casually atop the desk draped with its red and black Imperial banner, turning something blue-white and glimmering over in his hand. A quill? A feather? Some sort of pin?

“How is it that when you want to find a particular sort of person, they’re nowhere to be found?” he asks, pushing his hood back. “Even when normally you’d be shaking them out of your pockets.”

"Changes the narrative some, maybe. A fox might think one like that is of their own rather than a hunter's hound."

And wouldn't that be a grand thing! Loki can't help enjoying tricky mortals and those that, like himself, can't abide the constraints of others being forced upon them. It's written deep within him to prize freedom.

"If you're not careful, you'll catch the eye of the Moon-King, who is thought to be fond of such mortals." His grin is almost boyishly mischievous now. For all the tattered trappings and cryptic words, his form is that of a young man and it suits him well.

“Hard to say: I don’t think I’m over-fond of being chased.” He grins in answer, though there’s curiosity rather than mischief in his eyes. “The Moon-King? I haven’t heard that one before. Not unless you count someone who’s beyond threatening mortals.”

"That's a shame, that he's not made his way to your corner of the omniverse, for he has been thought to herald interesting times." To make up for it, Loki is more than happy to talk all about himself. Describing himself in third person comes much too easily to him.

"He is the great trickster who takes no side but his own, the god of all tales said to be made of the very inspiration of skalds. So you see, I am naturally biased."

“We all have favorites, don’t we? I can hardly fault you, besides: he sounds more fun than most of our gods. I don’t think any of them have a particular interest in bards. Or rather, none who the bards want to credit.” He shrugs. “I’m glad you’re more willing to speak of your patron. Would you share a tale about him?"
