Sibling Rivalries: Chili Edition

Flyers have been going up around the Forum and Commercial District for the last week or so. This morning,the lights in the VSW Meadhall came on. By noon, anyone getting close enough to an open door would know: chili's on!

Inside, everything's set up and waiting for the hungry and the curious: Clint's cooking in one corner, and Verity's in the other. Between them, tables are laid out with the necessities: bowls, plates, spoons, and plenty of napkins. There's beer and iced tea, some lovely tres leches cakes provided by the Nexus' favorite Japanese detective, and various toppings for the chili: bottles of sriracha and sweet Thai chili sauce, red pepper flakes, green onions and red, lime wedges, diced bell peppers and jalapeños, crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream. Cornbread and tortilla chips round things out.

Long tables with a mix of benches and chairs fill the hall on either side of the fire pits. One has board and card games stacked neatly at one end (they were neat when they were put out, at least). Another has two boxes, one wrapped in purple paper and one in pink, for depositing voting slips.

((There will doubtless be further Cupid-based shenanigans, but this weekend, it's all about the platonic relationships. Bromances, BFFs, and family ties rule the day! Let's celebrate! Clint gives a lopsided smirk, watching Bugs' antics for a moment before twisting the cap off a beer and offering it to the poor, beleaguered rabbit. "Think it's hot enough?"

(All of the beer mysteriously becomes Hayes Code Brand Root Beer as Bugs chug-a-lugs a small mountain's worth. Then he lets out the loudest, most raucous burp imaginable, complete with giant word sound effect:

No wonder Bugs is so big on pranking, if he can never take the edge off with a cold one. "Yeah, no problem. Not a big spice fan, I take it?"

Nah, I can take it. I just couldn't resist a good old Five Alarm Chili Gag.

"Hey, c'mon, my stuff's hotter than five-alarm," Clint mock-protests, grinning lopsidedly. "And I made up some salsa to mix in, for anyone who wants it hotter. Feeling brave?"

(At least Bugs isn't on the Nintendo--all he'd have then are frothy mugs of water, poor guy.)

(Dashes "backstage" and reemerges in a Hazmat suit, complete with Vader Breath.)

(Muffled:) Ready when you ah, mack.

Clint doesn't point out the preposterousness of a hazmat suit to protect against something Bugs is going to eat--he just stirs a generous spoonful of salsa into the rabbit's bowl. "Awright, let's do this."

(A pump attached to the helmet latches onto the bowl and begins delivering the concoction in to the suit. As the chili gets consumed, the faceplate of the suit gets increasingly fogged up.)

(The suit starts to vibrate and whistle like a teakettle about to boil over. The presure builds, and builds, and builds...until...)

(Bugs runs off into the horizon, but before he can get there, he goes up in a great mushroom cloud. At the top of the cloud shapes spell out the word YUM.)

(He reemerges from a trap door in the ground, munching on his iconic carrot.)

Phew! Dat shore packs a punch, pally! But da recipe could use more carrots.
