"I get the chance to examine it, work out the enchantments on it and add that to my knowledge. I may not always be able to duplicate the results, but it's the challenge more than anything." She gestures to his cane with a hoof. "Besides, some items I would have little use for, so why take the item from someone that can use it?"

She pauses and adds "Also, sometimes I feel like copying the magic without payment is akin to theft... Especially if it's something someone made themselves... It can take years to create some enchanted items, and I make sure to consider how I would feel if somebody did it to me."
