Nexus Spring Market Fair

Seemingly overnight, one of the grassy areas edging the Forum has been taken over by a spring market and fair. Part state fair, part craft fair, part Renaissance faire, there are attractions for all comers. Tents and booths of every size, shape, and color are lined up more or less tidily, sometimes with wide avenues between them and sometimes with paths skinny enough to crowd a single person. Goods and treats from the far-flung corners of infinity are on display. The general organization has magic and alchemical goods grouped together and slightly separated from the other tents; arts and crafts fill the area around it. Goods such as clothes and jewelry, plants, and vintage and antique items are in the back. Food is front and center, between the entrance and the rides. This is perhaps not an ideal placement.
To one side is a brightly-lit collection of rides and games familiar to anyone who's been to a state fair. A ferris wheel, flying swings, and all manner of reasons to regret that last funnel cake are blaring tinny music and sporting blinking lights. Remember: rides first, then eat. Classic games that test strength, agility, and luck offer plush prizes sure to delight anyone until the fur rubs off. There are also some animal rides near the exit.
In the back of the roughly-fenced-in area are the exhibits. There's a petting zoo with creatures mundane and more exotic, all promised to be tame; practical demonstrations of new magical and technological wonders; a juried art show; and a stage hosting a variety of performers changing on the hour.
((This is an open event. If your character wants to have a booth selling wares or food, set one up. If your character wants to perform or provide other services, go for it! Please note what sort of service you're providing, if any, in the subject line of your top-level comment. Basically, just run with it and have fun!

Such an enthusiastic fairgoer has no trouble drawing her attention, which is the trouble: he'd be an excellent distraction, witting or no, for those with eyes bigger than their coin purse. The gems are tucked away while she surreptitiously scans the crowd around her camp. Despite her suspicions, the Doctor's greeting is met with a smile and a deferential dip of her head. "Greetings, friend. I have many fine wares for sale today. It is certain a discerning gentleman such as yourself will have no trouble finding something of interest."
The suit makes her think he's a gentleman, and probably educated; the boa... she doesn't know what to make of that. "I offer rare books on a variety of subjects, should that interest you. Or perhaps a magical trinket to protect a loved one, or some exotic perfume to please them?"

He whips back around, with his silly lei around his neck he might fit right in. He peers down at the trinkets, and he is sure Donna will love one of those or the perfume or both. Just don't offer him a bottle of shooma or moonsugar. "Mmm. I'm not sure how my friend might respond if I gave her those."
"But you know..." The Doctor wanders about again, and he looks at a nice green gown. "I think she might like that." With his hands full, he's unable to pick it up.

Ravari leaves him to wander until he finds something, and when he does she comes over to lift up the dress so he can examine it better. Sharp as her claws are, she's extremely careful with it. "Ah, this is a lovely new item. The silk has only just begun to be harvested for use in garments. It is quite strong, and I find it has a lovely sheen. Your friend's beauty could only be enhanced by such a gift."

Ravari gives a pleased little purr and folds the dress carefully before turning to follow his gaze over to the staves. "Ah. Magic staffs, yes, you have a good eye. Is there a particular kind of spell you would be most interested in?"
no subject
He squints his eyes as he tries to wrap his mind around the staves being powered by 'magic', and again he does his best to be avoid being rude. "I wasn't expecting magic, a walking stick perhaps but not a magic staff."
no subject
"Staves can contain a variety of spells, from the five schools of magic common in my world. And when their energy is depleted, they can also make fine walking sticks. Several of these hold spells of destruction, but I also have staves with healing spells and one that casts magelight."
no subject
"And if it is, it sounds like something that can be of use for me in my travels."

Ravari takes the staff of magelight from the group and offers it to him for examination. It's a fine, sturdy thing with an amber crystal at the top.
