Nexus Spring Market Fair

Seemingly overnight, one of the grassy areas edging the Forum has been taken over by a spring market and fair. Part state fair, part craft fair, part Renaissance faire, there are attractions for all comers. Tents and booths of every size, shape, and color are lined up more or less tidily, sometimes with wide avenues between them and sometimes with paths skinny enough to crowd a single person. Goods and treats from the far-flung corners of infinity are on display. The general organization has magic and alchemical goods grouped together and slightly separated from the other tents; arts and crafts fill the area around it. Goods such as clothes and jewelry, plants, and vintage and antique items are in the back. Food is front and center, between the entrance and the rides. This is perhaps not an ideal placement.

To one side is a brightly-lit collection of rides and games familiar to anyone who's been to a state fair. A ferris wheel, flying swings, and all manner of reasons to regret that last funnel cake are blaring tinny music and sporting blinking lights. Remember: rides first, then eat. Classic games that test strength, agility, and luck offer plush prizes sure to delight anyone until the fur rubs off. There are also some animal rides near the exit.

In the back of the roughly-fenced-in area are the exhibits. There's a petting zoo with creatures mundane and more exotic, all promised to be tame; practical demonstrations of new magical and technological wonders; a juried art show; and a stage hosting a variety of performers changing on the hour.

((This is an open event. If your character wants to have a booth selling wares or food, set one up. If your character wants to perform or provide other services, go for it! Please note what sort of service you're providing, if any, in the subject line of your top-level comment. Basically, just run with it and have fun!

I offer pictoral inspiration and ask that any pictures used in comments not be more than 300 px tall (and it looks better if you can keep it about the same height as your text). Code to have your text wrap around your picture below.))

I'm a little possessive of my ship; I can give you the specs for mass and the power throughput for the drivetrain, but I'll handle any compatibility issues myself.

*Sorrynotsorry, Swindle, Samus doesn't share her toys, especially not with people who might sell information about them later on.*

Frankly, I'm looking for something as far above spec as will fit on my chassis. That "fair fight" nonsense is for other people.

Swindle is a little disappointed, understanding, but he's not about to run off a potential customer. "Oooh, I agree with you on both sides. Anyone who's looking for a fair fight doesn't tend to last too long. But if you can give me those specs, I'll see what I can find for you."

Of course.

*She plucks a small datapad from where it had been clinging to her thigh at pocket height, blending in seamlessly with the surface of her suit. A few quick taps, and she's transmitted her ship's basic specs. It's too large to be a single-person fighter (although bulky enough that it could be a large Cybertronian's alt-mode); it seems more the weight of a long-range light gunship. Whatever it is certainly has power to spare, though--Samus has put a great deal of effort into tuning its power supply for optimum performance. Anything less would leave her short at exactly the wrong moment.*

While we're on the subject, what do you have in the way of thermal sinks? I'm thinking of mounting some particle cannons, but I worry about the heat in tight spaces.

Swindle kneels down to get a better look at the datapad and the schematics to Samus' ship. "Hold a sec..." He goes to bite on his metal lip, as he then looks back down at his own datapad while he thumbs through his inventory.

"I don't have anything here, but I do have something back at my shop back home." He pulls up an image of what appears to be a used hyperdrive sitting among some other junk in his shop on Cybertron.

"As for thermal sinks, I've got a whole bunch of those. I even can get you those particle cannons for one heck of a deal!" He then goes to show her what her ship will look like when it is done.

*She weighs her options, lips twisting in thought.*

How much?

Swindle goes to do the math in his head. "Five hundred thousand credits. If you can't afford it, I'm sure we can work out some kind of deal."

*She considers that, then nods, keying in the transaction on her 'pad.*

Done. Do you have somewhere set to receive this? Or are you expecting hard currency?

Being a multidimensional sales-mech isn't easy, or so Swindle thinks. "I'm really going to find someone to update this old thing. But I should be able to do everything back in my shop back home."

Meaning I'd need to visit your Facet to complete this transaction?

"Or if you can give me a little time, I can make the needed adjustments and take care of business here inside of the Nexus."

I'd prefer the latter option. Time I have in abundance.
