Nexus Spring Market Fair

Seemingly overnight, one of the grassy areas edging the Forum has been taken over by a spring market and fair. Part state fair, part craft fair, part Renaissance faire, there are attractions for all comers. Tents and booths of every size, shape, and color are lined up more or less tidily, sometimes with wide avenues between them and sometimes with paths skinny enough to crowd a single person. Goods and treats from the far-flung corners of infinity are on display. The general organization has magic and alchemical goods grouped together and slightly separated from the other tents; arts and crafts fill the area around it. Goods such as clothes and jewelry, plants, and vintage and antique items are in the back. Food is front and center, between the entrance and the rides. This is perhaps not an ideal placement.
To one side is a brightly-lit collection of rides and games familiar to anyone who's been to a state fair. A ferris wheel, flying swings, and all manner of reasons to regret that last funnel cake are blaring tinny music and sporting blinking lights. Remember: rides first, then eat. Classic games that test strength, agility, and luck offer plush prizes sure to delight anyone until the fur rubs off. There are also some animal rides near the exit.
In the back of the roughly-fenced-in area are the exhibits. There's a petting zoo with creatures mundane and more exotic, all promised to be tame; practical demonstrations of new magical and technological wonders; a juried art show; and a stage hosting a variety of performers changing on the hour.
((This is an open event. If your character wants to have a booth selling wares or food, set one up. If your character wants to perform or provide other services, go for it! Please note what sort of service you're providing, if any, in the subject line of your top-level comment. Basically, just run with it and have fun!

"I try to have a good variety... but to tell the truth, I actually have much more than this. I didn't want to overload the tables and besides, I'm not sure of the potions I have reacting well to other species..."
Trixie is mindful of the safety of anyone using her products, and she'd not sell anything to anyone if she thought it would cause harm.

What do you have for a unicorn on the go?
no subject
"I suppose it depends on what you need. I wouldn't want to sell you something that you'd have no use for."
Looking a little embarrassed she adds "I mean I have wearable bags, non slip shoes, and packages of snacks... but if they're useful to you, I have no idea. I've never met anyone made of metal before..."
no subject
I spend most of my time running. Even metal hooves will eventually wear down. Perhaps some kind of useful enchantment on horseshoes?
no subject
"That I can do. If you don't mind me asking a few questions, I'm sure I can make you something."
She starts to go over things in her head. "Are you wearing any kind of shoe now, or have you ever?" There were a variety of ways to attach shoes to hooves in her experience, and she didn't want to assume anything.
no subject
It sounds a little puzzled, and lifts up one of its front hooves to check. Its leg is masterfully crafted out of solid metal, flawlessly duplicating a real horse's anatomy, but there doesn't appear to be any kind of shoe attached. There are a few depressions that could be used to screw one on, however.
Apparently not. But I am equipped for attachments, it seems.

She'll quickly trot to the back of her wagon, open the door, and float out four trays with a soft looking substance in them. Setting them on the ground at what looks like about the distance between the other unicorn's legs, she gestures to the pads.
"If you'll come over here and stand on these pads like you would normally, then step off of them, they'll create impressions of your hooves so I can make the shoes fit you properly." Magic was a wonderful tool at times. No mess, no fuss imprints was really a boon when she was crafting.
"What kind of enchantments would you like? I can assume to reduce wear will be one, but anything else? Something for traction? Color perhaps?"
no subject
If traction can be improved, it would be appreciated. And I do enjoy color.
no subject
"I'll see what I can do... I have a few ideas." Shoes didn't cost too much to make, it was just a fair bit of work to enchant them.
"What kind of payment would you like to use? I can take local currency, but I'm open to barter as well..." Trixie then proceeds to give it a quote in one of the local currencies. Her work isn't really cheap, but not exorbitant either. A human would spend just a bit less on a well made pair of shoes.
no subject
As easy as it would be to pay in money, the robot unicorn has never had a chance to earn any, nor does it have pockets. A fact that is has never given much thought to, until now.
no subject
"I'm sure we can figure something out... hmmm... Would it cause you any harm or discomfort if I were to ask you if I could try to take a small sample of either your mane or tail?"
She didn't want to hurt it after all. Worst case she could probably ask it to do a few deliveries for her in exchange for the shoes, she wasn't greedy.
no subject
I do not know. Such a thing has never been attempted.
It tosses its head, very horse-like, paying attention to the way its mane feels.
I do not believe it would cause any lasting difficulty.
no subject
"Will you allow me to take a small sample in exchange for the shoes then?" Trixie was always sure to ask plainly and reaffirm what the trade would be, because vague wording could cause trouble later.
((ooc: Is there anything she can learn about it from it's mane/hair? Like is it made of metal, fiber optics, it has magic, etc. I can always say that it's unidentifiable or whatever if you want though.))
no subject
Trixie may have a bit of trouble getting the robot unicorn's mane or tail to cooperate, as it appears to be made out of some kind of pure energy, constantly changing color to every shade in the rainbow. It can be contained with magic, however, and will gently hover in the middle of the jar, pulsing as it changes color.
((ooc: It's sort of magic, in a way.))
no subject
"Okay, I have it... Let me know if things change and the missing piece causes you difficulty or discomfort later." Trixie wasn't sure if taking the small amount of mane would cause issues later, if it did, she'd find some way to undo the damages.
Now, back to the shoes. "It will take me a couple of days to get the shoes done... Do you think you can stop back in three days? I'll be here till the end of the fair, and then likely somewhere in the area afterwards..."
((ooc: Fair enough. She can drive herself crazy trying to figure it out later. XD
Not that she will. lol))no subject
I will remember to return.
I tossed a bit of a time skip in here if that works for you?
When it returned in three days, Trixie had it's shoes ready and sitting in a glass case on display in order to allow the enchantments to settle.
"Welcome back. I have your shoes ready for you." And what shoes they are, she'd spent a few hours extra to spell the shoes to match it's rainbow mane and tail, the colors looking like a thin, shimmery glaze over polished silver.
"They have cushioning to make them comfortable on your hooves, anti wear, traction and water walking enchantments on them... I hope they'll do?" She pauses "The water walking is for puddles and small gaps, not for ponds or lakes. I'm afraid that there is not enough space for an enchantment of that size on the shoes to let you cross big bodies of water..."
She'd really hoped to get the full water walking on the shoes, but it was not to be. Still, she hoped that it would be useful. At least it would keep it from skidding on water or sinking a hoof into a deep puddle. Who knew what water would do to a creature of metal after all?
Time skip works fine!
Very thoughtful of you. That will certainly be a useful addition.
It looks at her, and there might be a glimmer of amusement in those glowing eyes.
Do you charge an installation fee?
no subject
"Well, I suppose I should... Hmmm... The fee will be letting me know how the shoes are working for you if we're both still here in a few months." Well, she'd not complain if it wanted to stop by again otherwise. Trixie was still quite curious about a metal unicorn with a rainbow mane made of something that she couldn't identify.
Grinning, she levitates the shoes out of the box and the specially made bolts that she'd made to attach them to it's hooves. Trixie is more than willing to help it put the shoes on and affix them in place, checking the fittings and fussing a little to be sure that they sit properly.
"How does that feel?"
no subject
It lifts each foot in turn as the horseshoes are bolted on, one by one. Once all four are attached, it stomps experimentally, and briefly trots a few steps.
They are quite comfortable. I have already noticed the difference in traction, though the other enchantments will require more field testing to analyze.

It's fairly confident that her craft is up to the task, though. It paws at the ground, eager to run and test out the new hoofwear.
Perhaps we will run into each other again. For now, I bid you farewell and good fortune.
