The season is a'changing, the weather is warmer. The forecast calls for high temperature, low humidity and a light breeze. A near perfect day. What better reason to gather the friends and have a good time with a bonfire? Grab a beer, have a seat. Cheery tunes fill the salty air. There's plenty of room and so much to eat.

Matt Murdock is actually dressed for the beach. Still likely more than usual. He burns so easily. There's no way he could have done this alone. Anyone who is anyone in Nexus knows that there is that distinct Verity Willis touch on everything. If the sounds and the sights don't get you, it is going to be whatever Clint has on the grill. That man is magic.

"Oh." Brienne blinks and for once has to crane her neck to look up at someone. He's taller than The Mountain and the Hound. Maybe even The Hound perched up on the Mountain's shoulders. Befitting a tree, she should think. And such a tree man he is.

"Seven Blessings."

Groot smiles pleasantly to the new human. He hasn't met her before, but he likes meeting new people. "I am Groot," he informs her, by way of greeting.

"I am Brienne of Tarth," which is customary for greeting. She hasn't caught onto his speech pattern just yet. It's so sure and congenial.

Groot smiles, giving a happy rumble and extending a hand. Will new friend do the hand-hold-thing new friends do?

What a kindly tree person! Brienne extends her hand, unafraid but really unsure of how to respond to this. They must shake hands then? Yes. "I imagine the children of the forest look like you."

Groot is an enthusiastic shaker of hands. He's an enthusiastic doer of most things he does. Her remark intrigues him, prompting an "I am Groot?"

Tree-mendous handshaking skills indeed. "Yes, well, I understand you cannot be of them or like them. They existed where I'm from before man. They lived in the wilds with the animals." Oh and were the sworn enemies of men.

"I am Groot," he assures her. He is the sworn friend of everyone (except people who are not friendly to his friends).

He keeps saying the same thing but there's clear intelligence in his eyes. Brienne blinks. It must be his language. "I can now say I have met you and I'm sure there won't be another similar."

No more like Groot? That's not quite a happy thought; perhaps he misheard or misunderstood it. Groot will seek clarification: "I am Groot?"
