made waves with some friends I know

Matt Murdock is actually dressed for the beach. Still likely more than usual. He burns so easily. There's no way he could have done this alone. Anyone who is anyone in Nexus knows that there is that distinct Verity Willis touch on everything. If the sounds and the sights don't get you, it is going to be whatever Clint has on the grill. That man is magic.

Very well, he will have to puzzle it out by body language and tone. There is a decent chance he will guess wrong, but so long as Groot is unoffended, Faris will enjoy the challenge. "I am here with Hunter, a friend of Verity."

Groot nods and smiles. He has met Hunter. Hunter drew a picture of him, even. "I am Groot," he offers in approving tones.

Hmm. Perhaps if he asks his own questions, he'll be able to figure out the reply. "Have you been in this Nexus long? I am a relative newcomer."

Groot considers the question, tilting his head to one side, then the other, before giving a slight shrug. How, really, does one judge time? What makes for a long time, or a short one?

"I am Groot," the tree agrees, smiling in turn.

Though he won't let that stop him from socializing. "I have spent little time at a beach before. It is certainly not unpleasant."

Some posit that Groot's language is not limited, but is instead extremely subtle, and the tiny variances of inflection and posture convey whole libraries of information. Of course, the leading proponent of that theory is Maximus the Mad, so it's best taken with a grain of salt.
Groot nods again, rooty feet nudging the sand around a bit. Pointing over in the direction of the grills, he asks, "I am Groot?"

That gets a curious glance. "I am Groot?"

"I am Groot," the tree concedes. Although, looking around, he does see some vehicles parked nearby.
Groot, what are you doing? What are you doing, Groot? Why are you walking over to that car?

The K'da pads after him on all four paws, wondering where this might be leading.

Groot looks up curiously at the suggestion. "I am Groot?"

Groot's new friend makes a good point, and he now strides around the vehicle to pull open its rear hatch to look for such containers.
Someone is going to have a really bad day, later, when they see what's happened to their car.

His keen nose sniffs out a black plastic quart container, although he can't read the text on the side.
