The season is a'changing, the weather is warmer. The forecast calls for high temperature, low humidity and a light breeze. A near perfect day. What better reason to gather the friends and have a good time with a bonfire? Grab a beer, have a seat. Cheery tunes fill the salty air. There's plenty of room and so much to eat.

Matt Murdock is actually dressed for the beach. Still likely more than usual. He burns so easily. There's no way he could have done this alone. Anyone who is anyone in Nexus knows that there is that distinct Verity Willis touch on everything. If the sounds and the sights don't get you, it is going to be whatever Clint has on the grill. That man is magic.

Considering what Hunter does with paint and flowers, she's quite certain he'll be able to do an excellent job building a sandcastle.

"True. And a tax plan. Running kingdoms is an expensive prospect, especially given you're building on sand. So, what kind of king do you want to be?"

"Oh, that's a hard question," Loki muses. "The kind who gets excellent advice from his chancellor, for a start. And maybe listens to it." After a beat, he decides, "we need to get you a stick! A proper chancellor's staff, that you can rap on the ground and make everybody pay attention."

"I don't think anyone would hear it on the sand," she points out. "That's okay, I'm pretty good at yelling, I'll make it work."

"A stick for thwacking, then," he concludes. "Anyway, seneschals need a stick. It's a rule." He's grinning--is she going to go along with this? Or call him out on some part of it?

She sighs, shaking her head, and leans down to give him a long serious look. "Oh, sweetheart."

"Don't tempt me." Then she winks and ruffles his hair.

Loki's starting to look a little serious as well before that wink and hair-ruffle, which prompt a grin and a laugh. "Alright, no stick. What should our tax policy be? Do we even have a currency?" He glances in the direction of the grill and speculates, "we could have an economy based on flame-kissed meats!" Speaking of, it's time for a bite of hamburger. Mmm, burger.

"We could stick with a barter system," she points out. "People could trade what they have for what they need, and give you what's needed for the maintenance of the kingdom or pay you in labor or a portion of what they produce. Then we wouldn't need to worry about currency, at least until we start opening up trade routes with neighboring kingdoms."

"That sounds pretty good," Loki agrees between bites. "What should we use to pay the architect?"

Ver looks over at Hunter before suggesting, "Compliments?"

"Perfect! This is why I made you my advisor. You're smart, and too nice to plot a coup."

"I would never do that. I might let other people do that and sit back and let them put me in charge later if they succeed, though; much safer that way."

[damn_yourself_early]

"You'd never let people oust me in a coup," Loki counters with certainty. "You like me too much."

"True," she concedes with very little struggle. She does, she loves him and feels strongly that she has to protect him. "I love you, sweetheart, and I would never let anyone hurt you."

"I know," he answers with a smile. This seems like a good time for a hug, too. "I won't let anyone hurt you, either."

This is the perfect time for a hug, and she'll wrap him up in one, too. "Thank you, sweetheart."
