made waves with some friends I know

Matt Murdock is actually dressed for the beach. Still likely more than usual. He burns so easily. There's no way he could have done this alone. Anyone who is anyone in Nexus knows that there is that distinct Verity Willis touch on everything. If the sounds and the sights don't get you, it is going to be whatever Clint has on the grill. That man is magic.

She smirks over at him. Of course, she prepared thoroughly. He knows that--he's met her and worked with her. "Not everything, but enough to get by I hope."
The guitar's hardly the most random thing to happen in the Nexus.

High praise--he'll take it.
"I have no doubt. Is there anything you'd recommend to my attention, or are we at the mingling phase?"
no subject
"We're mingling. Or some people are swimming, it looks like. If you've got something you'd like to do, by all means, get it started."
no subject
"No, no, I'm here to mingle," he admits. "Having shaken that glittery head-cold, though, I wonder what my reception in some quarters might be."
no subject
"We're calling it a 'glittery head-cold' now?" Very's amused, but she'll let him run with this for now. "Who wouldn't be happy to see you?"
no subject
"It seems a polite enough euphemism," he insists mildly. "I think my reception might be not so much unhappy as disappointed. I met a lady of great dignity and honor in that state, and did her a small favor. I am not usually so generous, and the second impression will perforce amend the first."
no subject
"Ah. Afraid of disappointing her?" She glances around before asking, "Is she here?"
no subject
"I thought I saw her," he answers, looking around as well, "but I don't at the moment. Lady Brienne of Tarth, if you've met her."
no subject
Yes, Schön, she's at a party with strangers. Again. No, she didn't learn her lesson. But be fair: how was she supposed to say 'no' to Matt?
no subject
"So you say, generously trying to put my mind at ease," he counters with a wry little smile.
Given her recent track record, someone who didn't know her might begin to think that Verity is quite social.
no subject
They might. Two parties in a month? Scandalous. She's going to need to lay down for a while when this is over.
no subject
Way to flip a joke. "Once, everyone knew the world was flat. Then, they knew humans were alone in the cosmos. One wonders what they will know tomorrow."
At least she has her Mr. Murdock for a pillow.
no subject
Yes. A pillow. That is definitely 100% the only thing she wants Matt around for at night.
no subject
"Also true," he concedes, "although as one who's had a taste of eternity, I find that the things which endure are often surprises."
On such matters, Schön doesn't judge.
no subject
"Will you be sticking around for the bonfire and ghost stories? I believe that's traditional."
no subject
"Have you ever known me to buck tradition? Or to miss a chance for stories?" he asks, his quirked lips pulling back into an utterly unrepentant grin.
no subject
"Not at all," she answers, with her eyes wide and an innocent expression. Butter could not melt. "But the things which endure are often surprises."
no subject
How delightful, that they can make each other laugh as she's just made him. "You know, I do believe I've heard that said."
no subject
"Hunter's over there, if you want to go say hello."
no subject
Even the savviest have the occasional oversight.
"Indeed, I do. This is such a lovely party, Verity, thank you for throwing it."

And having a cookie, yes, because they look good.
