The season is a'changing, the weather is warmer. The forecast calls for high temperature, low humidity and a light breeze. A near perfect day. What better reason to gather the friends and have a good time with a bonfire? Grab a beer, have a seat. Cheery tunes fill the salty air. There's plenty of room and so much to eat.

Matt Murdock is actually dressed for the beach. Still likely more than usual. He burns so easily. There's no way he could have done this alone. Anyone who is anyone in Nexus knows that there is that distinct Verity Willis touch on everything. If the sounds and the sights don't get you, it is going to be whatever Clint has on the grill. That man is magic.

Many people could benefit from such protection. Although outside the Nexus, it would also be an easy thing to abuse.

Suppose you have this protection, and your enemy doesn't. You can take your time, get into position to pose the greatest possible threat, even under their heaviest fire. Used strategically, simply occupying key locations could be enough to force a surrender, based on the magnitude of what you could unleash the moment you started to attack. Alternately, you could wait for your enemies to exhaust their munitions and stamina before crushing them in their depleted state.

*She gives a slight shrug, as if the tactical and strategic implications are quite obvious.*

For that matter, you'd be able to rob anyone blind--they can't hurt you, can't restrain you, even as you take any unattended object you can pick up and walk away.

Everyone has their own strengths. I've had to keep up on tactics and strategy in general out of necessity, since I tend to work alone. By that token, I have a harder time applying squad tactics than countering them.

"One cannot be an expert in everything," Faris says reasonably. "Though one might certainly try."

There is merit in the attempt.

Besides, study gives a life something to do while it's long.

"Indeed." He shifts slightly in the sand, allowing the sun to reach a little more of him. "What do you do for entertainment? I believe the word is... hobby?"

I study whatever catches my interest--recently, I've been chasing archaeological metallurgy, with an eye to era precursors in particular. The way the first hint of a new development impacts society, the developments that follow... or sometimes fail to.

"The development of more ancient technologies does sound interesting," he says, lifting his head a little to look at her politely. "You are studying other cultures, or your own?"

Others. There's no one else of my own left from whom to learn, so I have to go on what I can find, and remember.

"That does make it difficult. Still, knowledge even for its own sake is worth collecting."
