made waves with some friends I know

Matt Murdock is actually dressed for the beach. Still likely more than usual. He burns so easily. There's no way he could have done this alone. Anyone who is anyone in Nexus knows that there is that distinct Verity Willis touch on everything. If the sounds and the sights don't get you, it is going to be whatever Clint has on the grill. That man is magic.

She loves who he is. She loves the compliments, sneaky and real and weird. She loves his strange tastes and preferences. Everything. Everything about him, she loves. "You're welcome."
She never does it out of pity. She's sad, sometimes, that he can't see; so is he. But he has a world and it's beautiful. They teach each other about the worlds they live in, finding where they overlap and expanding each other's horizons. These things are shared with poetry, touches, movement, even silence. It's the most intimate of dances. The joke gets a soft laugh from her and she rests a hand on his shoulder to give him a squeeze.
He might turn to where he expects her to be, but no. Not there. She's swimming around him, intending to burst up behind him and give him a surprise hug. "Gotcha!"

The sadness of being blind is a private thing. Verity is privy to it. It's the same way there's a sadness with how she cannot unsee. It's still beautiful, still real and he meets her there in the overlap in the same way. This is happiness. This is love.
"Verity..." He is laughing, expecting to reach out for her ahead of him. The tackling hug makes him startle and turn. Matt's laugh deepens as he wraps his arms around her. "No. Got you now." Sneaky trick!

Beautiful and bittersweet. Love takes the rough edges off their lives.
She hadn't quite meant to tackle him, only surprise. It's good she didn't knock him off his feet. Her arms are tight around him, but leave room for him to turn and hold her, too. She's laughing too, with her face tilted up to him, watching and waiting. "You've always had me."

Together they see as it's meant to be. The rough edges smoothed out, the softness treated with care. They are stewards of one another's well-being. No wonder at all that ringing bells are in the future. Everyone that's met them would agree.
The water makes it feel more dynamic. His knees are softened to cushion the blow. Carrying her is never a problem. They can hold one another and it's like they both can bear the weight. "I swore I heard some kind of Jaws music for a second." A joke, a joke. "Slipped right away there." Her stealth has been dramatically improving. He shouldn't even be surprised.

It's painfully obvious to most people that they're nuts about each other and well-suited. The only ones whose opinions matter are the two of them, in this case. She does not doubt he loves her and they'll be happy together. That's more of a guarantee than she ever expected in life and she'll take it.
She can bear the weight. She could carry him, literally as well as figuratively. He is not heavy in her arms, only warm and safe. He's helped her learn to live in the world, to not be afraid to be noticed. Now he's teaching her to go unseen when she wants to. It's a bit contradictory. So long as he knows she's never going far. Her head tilts forward and she rests her forehead on his chest. "Did you have trouble tracking me because of the water?"

Carrying him in and out of the water still is a surprise to him. A pleasant one. Matt holds her tight and rests his head against her. "A little actually."

A pleasant surprise is the best kind. Ver reaches up to cradle his head and stroke his hair. She does delight in these chances to hold him. "Hmm. We should work on that. Practice makes perfect." But not just yet. She wants a kiss first. It's been whole heartbeats since the last one, at least.
