His day is just dragon on...

That sure would be what looks like a huge dragon... trying to get it's horns out of the welcome sign... while trying not to do any more damage to the surrounding area. There are brochures flying everywhere too. Looks like someone's entrance to the Nexus was rather unexpected... and having a thirty-ish foot long dragon in the main area of the forum doesn't seem to be a very good idea either...

"Ah... Do these come in a larger size?" Skyfire holds up a brochure between two claws... and it looks a bit worse for wear. "I'm having some trouble holding it well enough to read it..."

He pauses and considers her offer a moment, looking more than a bit unsure.

"... How does it work on things that aren't organic?" Because despite his current look, he really wasn't organic, or at least he wasn't fully. Or was it just a simulation of being organic? He really has no idea. Introducing a new energy to his systems, no matter how well intentioned, made him a bit wary. Who knew how his body would react to it, it wasn't as if he'd gotten a guide book when he'd turned into his current form.

"People dislike the sign that much?"

"Oh. I don't think it works on non-organic things. Sorry." Seems his concerns are a rather moot point. But fair, and worth thinking about when it comes up.

"Some people do. There've been attempts to damage or remove it; it doesn't usually work."

[caelum_ignis_draconigena]

"It's quite alright. Thank you for the thought though."

He eyes the sign curiously "Well, it's certainly strong, that's for sure... I might have to take a look at it to see if I can duplicate the substance it's made from. Something that strong would come in handy as a building material..."

"You're welcome. You going to be okay?" He's not the only worry-wart around here.

She glances briefly at the sign again before lowering her gaze. It's just so bright. "Making something useful out of it would be great. Another hard-to-damage material would be put to good use around here."

He chuckles lightly. "I'll be alright, I have a hard head. It's mostly just stiffness from being stuck at that odd angle." It's mostly true, with a bit of a joke and a teeny bit of a lie. He's not quite sure he'd be 'okay', but he'd been through worse and come out fine.

"Hopefully it won't have to be that optic searing to be useable..." Skyfire pauses a moment "I wonder if anyone has tried to paint it or build a box around it..." He joins her in looking anywhere but at the sign.

She feels the lie, but, medical stuff is personal, and thus not to be questioned if it doesn't seem like he's gonna die or something. There's a very complicated hierarchy of how to handle these things in her head.

"It wouldn't be so bad if it stuck to one color, I suppose. You know, I'm not sure if anyone has tried to paint it or box it in. I've seen people try to graffiti it or add stuff to it, and that never lasts."

"Hmmm... Well, at least I'll have something interesting to look into once I'm settled in a bit."

He was honestly in no hurry to get back to being stranded where he was, at least here people seemed to be used to stranger things... That they didn't attack him on sight and tried to help him was a wonderful change.

"Planning to stay, then?" That's a bit odd. Most people are in such a rush to get home.

[caelum_ignis_draconigena]

"I suppose so... It's not like I have much to go back for." He gives her a small smile "People seem to be a lot more friendly around here as well, so it's a good a reason as any."

"That does sound like a good reason," she agrees with a faint smile. Not so unlike what her reasoning would have been, if she'd had a choice.

"The friendly part, I mean." Not that she doesn't understand them both.

Skyfire nods, understanding what she meant.

He pauses for a long moment, then looks a little sheepish.

"Ah, my name is Skyfire..." She'd gotten him unstuck and he'd yet to introduce himself. Oops.

"Skyfire," she repeats quietly to help commit the name to memory. "I'm Verity Willis. Nice to meetcha."

"It is nice to meet you as well..." He looks around, a bit unsure of himself at the moment.

"So, uh... Should I be getting my tail out of here before someone decides I'm a threat...?" Because that seemed to be the biggest issue when it comes to being around people in his experience.

"Oh, I wouldn't worry about that. There's no real authority here, no police or army or anything. And so long as you don't step on anyone, I don't think most people will mind you too much." There's always the instinctive fear of something so much larger than oneself, but that can be overcome.

That startles Skyfire a little, but looking around a little it seems to be peaceful enough. "Huh. I didn't think self policing seemed to work well from what I've seen before... but I suppose in some places it works."

He does grimace at the mention of stepping on someone though. "I'm very careful of where I walk... I don't want to hurt anyone."

"I think the antiviolence field helps with that. There's less need for police when there's less chance for violent crimes."

As for the rest... well, they make it work. Somehow. Or maybe Schon's doing more to protect her than she knows. "That was a joke. A bad one. Sorry."

Skyfire blinks a few times, even after she says it's a joke.

"Ah... right? Sorry, I think that perhaps I fail at recognizing jokes..." It was both true and not. What he said was true, but in this case, while he couldn't figure out what she said that made it a joke, it still didn't seem like it could be funny at all.

"So..." He holds up one of the little pamphlets that he'd accidentally scattered around in his earlier flailing, and had only just noticed on the ground. It looks really small held between the tips of two of his claws. "Do these come in a larger size?" He thinks it could be useful, but it's pretty tiny for him to try and read. That's not to say he couldn't, it would just be more difficult.

"The idea that you'd step on someone. I don't think you'd really do that." That's what makes it a joke. Or was supposed to.

"Um... sometimes? I haven't seen any bigger ones lately. I can read it to you if you want?"

"Ah. I guess I'm just used to addressing it as a valid concern from others..." It's true, often he'd have to reassure others that he wasn't going to go and break or trample things and people. At least if they gave him a chance.

"Hum... How about you just give me a summary? I can guess that you've likely read it before..." He was curious to know just what the heck is going on, but at the same time, it's not overly worrying yet, annoying though. It wouldn't be the first time he'd been sent to another universe.

"Sorry." She makes a mental note to never joke about this sort of thing with him again.

"A summary would probably be 'Welcome to the middle of everything, weird shit happens here, you've been warned', but that's not super helpful. Um. Don't take anything if you're not certain where it came from. Be careful wandering through portals to foreign worlds."

"It's alright, really." He doesn't take offense to it, if anything, the fact that she even thought she could joke about it with him was a bit of relief. It meant that she didn't automatically see him as some kind of monster... or at least that was how he thought of it.

"Portals to other worlds?" Skyfire looks somewhat excited by the idea, but also cautious. "Is there some way to return here?" The thought of being stranded somewhat tempering his excitement, but the thought of being able to find the friends he'd made elsewhere...

Verity's life has taught her well that nobody's automatically a monster. But to keep your distance until you know one way or another.

"Most doors go both ways I think. Or there's some little machines that can open portals, but they can be tricky."

He nods at the comment on the doors, but still.

"There are machines that can open portals? Is there one that could get me back here?" Because he's curious enough that he's willing to try random doors... provided he has a safe way to get back to the Nexus. Really, the Nexus was his best idea for a potential home... or at least a safe place to store stuff.

"Yeah, they can do that. I think that's half the reason people use them, as a backup in case they can't get back the usual way. You may need to ask around to get one big enough for you to use, but I don't tend to shop in the places with things that're your size instead of mine."

"That sounds like a very good idea to me, I think I shall. Could you point me in the direction of someone that has the small versions? Even if I they don't have them, they might know someone that does."

Plus he was thinking that he could get a few small ones to give to his friends when he found them again, as it would be a good way to prevent them from being unwillingly separated again.
