The season is a'changing, the weather is warmer. The forecast calls for high temperature, low humidity and a light breeze. A near perfect day. What better reason to gather the friends and have a good time with a bonfire? Grab a beer, have a seat. Cheery tunes fill the salty air. There's plenty of room and so much to eat.

Matt Murdock is actually dressed for the beach. Still likely more than usual. He burns so easily. There's no way he could have done this alone. Anyone who is anyone in Nexus knows that there is that distinct Verity Willis touch on everything. If the sounds and the sights don't get you, it is going to be whatever Clint has on the grill. That man is magic.

"I use the highest SPF possible. Not only do I have the bald head to think about, but I also have close to a full-body tattoo." Taking with Matt reminds Hunter fondly of his conversations with Will, his former tutor who was blind (and can now see due to magic).

"Oh, I can see that would require a lot more than the typical." And Matt himself is clearly not a sun-worshiper. "We have some to spare too now that I think about it. You're in good company, Hunter."

[losthunter]

"Definitely agree with that... very good company." After all, Hunter feels blessed to have met the people he has, since everyone has been so nice so far.

"I am glad that we have this opportunity to socialize."

"Yes, I just..." have been trying to find a good balance between defending a city neighborhood and run a business. That never sounds good out loud. "Sometimes you get so busy you have to really make time for the things that matter." Like friends and places where you can just be yourself and breathe.

"Can I get you a beer?"

"I can understand that." Hunter does not have two lives to balance, but he does get lost in his art at times.

"A beer sounds great."

"Any preference? We got plenty to choose from." Because being thoughtful hosts provide variety.

[losthunter]

"Any recommendations? I am pretty open minded."

[fightlikehell]

"We have Arrogant Bastard, Guinness, Dos Equis, Heineken...if you wait long enough a friend is coming by with Magic Hat." That would be Mr. Foggy Nelson bringing a favorite. Matt right now is nursing a Heineken.

[losthunter]

"Guinness or Heineken would be excellent. But I will have to try Magic Hat, when there is some available."

"I gotcha. Yeah, it's pretty damn good once you try it. Gimme a second." He did say he'd get it. So off he goes. In Nexus Matt operates without the dependence on a cane. No vigilantism means no need to hide.

Hunter will get out his sketch pad as he waits. He makes a couple of quick strokes of his pen, to capture a sketch of Matt. This is how Hunter works... he sketches out a quick portrait and then later, if he is inspired, he will use that sketch for a painting or something more special.

And if he knew that Matt didn't have to hide in the Nexus... he would approve.

It doesn't take long at all. He is back shortly. The glasses stay on for the sun and because Matt feels more comfortable with them on. Just how it goes. Two Heinekens now. A fresh one for himself and another for Hunter. He takes a seat in the sand. "I play favorites, what can I say?"

[losthunter]

"Thanks." Hunter reaches out to take the Heineken.

"So what gave you the idea to host this event?"

Matt hands it to him before settling again in the sand. He pops the cap. "Well, the weather is getting warmer. Holiday coming up. And uh I really need to mellow out more, get to know people close to Verity."

[losthunter]

"It was a great idea."

Hunter takes a sip of his beer. "Is there anything you want to know about me?"

"My idea but you know Verity, I couldn't have had this magnitude of vision to it." He laughs a little. That is an unintended pun there.

Matt takes his own sip. "Tell me about yourself, Hunter. Been here a long time? Where're you from?"

[losthunter]

"I am from New York."

"But I now live in the Nexus." Hunter takes a sip of his beer. "I found the door to the Nexus about a year and a half ago."

"I was running away from my home."

"See... I was cursed by a witch. My appearance was changed drastically. And the witch told me that true love would break the curse. But my destiny had something different for me. The love I found was a good friend, who is now moving on with her own life. And I have come to accept myself... and the change in my appearance as something freeing. Something that allowed me to be me."

[fightlikehell]

"It's a small world. Where abouts? I'm from Hell's Kitchen." He brightens up to a different degree at the mentioning. It's something he loves almost as much as Verity. Running away though. "I'm sorry you needed to do that." Meaning it was not the same place it could have been to Hunter.

He listens to the rest and... it's all fantastical. What isn't now? He nods slowly. "Your appearance?"

"Manhattan. My dad's house was on the upper-side, but then my apartment was located quite close to Central Park."

"Before the curse, I had hair. And I didn't have any tattoos or piercings. But the magic changed all that."

"I was sort of a judgemental youth, and made fun of someone because of their appearance. That person was a witch who thought I needed to be taught a lesson."

"I hid myself for a long time, when my appearance changed. But now, I am much more comfortable and don't hide anymore."

The city is enormous for anyone who has never been. Matt wonders briefly if Hunter is from the very same New York. The one that was kind of crushed under attack. Hopefully not that part.

"Oh," he licks his lips and tilts his head but still listens. It doesn't sound at all like Hunter is the type to go and pursue this degree of physical modification for himself. That sounds like what a magic person would do to change. Like a fairy tale or something, huh?

"And now you're stuck with us." Matt smiles.

[losthunter]

"And loving it." Hunter adds with a smile. "I have been able to discover so much more of myself since coming here. And there are so many possibilities on the horizon."

"Like working with the lovely Verity on a few projects."

[fightlikehell]

"A change of scenery can change your perspective big time, huh?" The hubbub and urgency of New York City to Nexus and it's dream-like state, it's apples to kiwis. "I'm glad to hear you've found your way."

Verity and projects. Matt smiles. "What's she have you doing these days?"

[losthunter]

"I am helping with her museum memorial project, with her and Schön."

[fightlikehell]

"Ah," work projects. He grins and takes another sip of beer. The project and work is close to him too. There always is need for a lawyer. "We're co-workers. Schön is my client."

[losthunter]

"He had mentioned you, before I even knew about your connection to Verity. I was looking for a lawyer to help me with claiming a trust fund."

"I am right now in the midst of changing my name, legally, and then I be able to fund another idea I had." And since they are talking about it now, Hunter is not going to be able to change the subject too quickly again. It is something near and dear to his heart.

"I want to build a homeless shelter, that not only provides a roof when it is needed... but also has resources so those who need help finishing school, or improving their resume, or getting internship can do so. A place where those who need a little support to achieve their dreams... can find the right people and the right resources."
