made waves with some friends I know

Matt Murdock is actually dressed for the beach. Still likely more than usual. He burns so easily. There's no way he could have done this alone. Anyone who is anyone in Nexus knows that there is that distinct Verity Willis touch on everything. If the sounds and the sights don't get you, it is going to be whatever Clint has on the grill. That man is magic.

Since Loki is going big with the trench, Hunter is not afraid to also go big with the piles of sand for turrets and paths for the inner keep of the castle. He ensures that the sand is compacted enough to be a good foundation.

Once upon a time, he would have been blinded by his upbringing and not put any serious thought into Gods.
Or witches for that matter. Strange how a magical curse changes those viewpoints.

"I suppose that's one way of looking at it," Loki concedes, still digging. "On the other hand, if people lived on an island, and then didn't, does the island no longer have people to believe and support it?"

Hunter reaches for his bag, where he can pull out some of his art brushes, and a pencil. They will make good sand-carving tools right now.
"But I would imagine that the island might be a little lonely without its people."
no subject
"Well, now that is a point," Loki admits, shaping his ridge of sand into the beginnings of a wall. "But what about you? What's your story?"

Hunter moved to work on some finer details of his first turret. "But in the end, I discovered more of myself. And the Nexus."

"Ah? You ought to meet my brother, sometime," Loki suggests. "He was a spoiled prince, too, until he had some humbling experiences of his own."

"My witch had said that by finding someone to love me, with the changed appearance, would break the curse."
"But after my allotted year was completed, the love I had found was more appropriate of friendship instead of romantic. She was still important to me, but we parted ways. She traveled the world. I found the Nexus."
no subject
"How do you know you didn't break the curse?" Loki asks. "Magic and wordplay can be tricky like that, take it from one who knows."
no subject
"But perhaps that changed to, since I do not consider my appearance a hindrance any more."
"I have been trying to contact Kendra about the situation. But being who she is, I have been facing a few riddles and unusual dreams."

"Then at the very end, she said 'Sharpen your fangs and your claws, lost one. It isn't time... but it will be. You must wait. You must learn.'"
Hunter pauses in his work on the castle construction. "I feel that our connection is still important. I just don't understand why."
no subject
"Sharpen your fangs and your claws," Loki echoes, sitting to think. "Lost one. That means something, I think. That, and the teeth-and-claws lines, those are the ones to chase."

He holds out his left arm, the one with the dead rose bush on it. "Kendra had already used the rose theme before."
no subject
"Hmm. Roses have thorns, but that feels a little obvious. And what would it have to do with you being lost?" The puzzle has him quiet for nearly a minute before he raises his next question. "When she gave you that puzzle, what were your surroundings? What can you remember about things you saw, or heard, smelled--even just the quality of the light?"

"What kind of music, other than loud?"

"The place was very similar to the club that I used to frequent when I was a spoiled youth. It was where Kendra cursed me."
