made waves with some friends I know

Matt Murdock is actually dressed for the beach. Still likely more than usual. He burns so easily. There's no way he could have done this alone. Anyone who is anyone in Nexus knows that there is that distinct Verity Willis touch on everything. If the sounds and the sights don't get you, it is going to be whatever Clint has on the grill. That man is magic.

Now that standing up is out of her concern she can worry about breathing. If he can't take that away in small increments, kiss by kiss. "I think," and he feigns really pondering this while swaying with the motion of the waves, carefully walking to further depths. "I think that there are three at the most." Verity deadpan makes him smile still.
no subject
Who needs to breathe? There are kisses to be had. He can have every molecule of air in her lungs if he wants, kiss by kiss, to take it from her. She loves and adores him, every inch, every drop of him. More than she loves air. (Fuck you, oxygen, everyone knows you're poison.) "Mm. Three?" She claims a few more kisses before following up with, "Who?"
no subject
Someone needs to breathe, eventually. Their kiss is flavored with the salt of the air and sea. There are so many ways to kiss and love this woman. Matt wants to find them all. "Maybe three. Uh. Clint?" He's guessing without any evidence. A wave threatens his balance enough to get him to bend his knees. Gotta be careful with the precious cargo. Though now it's lapping at his waist and splashing up onto Ver.
no subject
True, she needs to let him breathe. Might as well get some air for herself too. The cold ocean water feels colder after the warmth of being held against him and has her shivering after every splash. "Hmm. I suppose I'd allow it in certain circumstances, but I don't remember it ever coming up with him." A hand leaves his shoulders to trail down into the water and flick a splash up against his chest.
no subject
"What--Aaah!" the reaction is a little exaggerated. That's what you call chilly there when he's not expecting it. Goosebumps texture his skin and might make it even more interesting to rest against. "It'd be a shame if you fell." No, Matt wouldn't. Ever. "I want to go farther but you don't have to. How about you just hang around."
Wait for it. He's got a plan. His strong arms hoist her higher. One leg up and over his shoulder while he's supporting her torso and arm, making sure there's a balance. "Giddyup?"
no subject
Ver giggles, both at the exaggeration and the fact he's overdoing it. She always intended to warm him up again with a cuddle. There's no concern that she's going to fall; he would never allow that. "I don't mind going in with you," she points out while she runs her ocean-chilled hand down his chest. "I know how to swim."
And then there he goes again, moving her around like she's a doll he can pose. It takes her a little longer to figure out what he's doing this time, but eventually it clicks and she take hold of his arms so she can lean on them while she centers her weight on his shoulders and hooks her legs in place. "Hmm, should I offer you the carrot or the stick?"
no subject
Verity is literally all over him. It is like cuddling. "You don't mind. But do you want to?" he's gently teasing. It's going to be hard to not get wet in the water.
His arms are her's to hold. If she is a doll he's some kind of jungle gym. Or something. Their combined shadow cast on the water looks a little ominous. Not like he can see it. "I do like carrots..."
no subject
Incorrect: she's not even able to reach half of him, nevermind be all over him. But it is like cuddling, in a way. Then again, most of their touching is these days. "I do. But it can wait. This is fun too, I don't usually get to be the tall one." She ruffles his hair affectionately before her hand dips to stroke his cheek. Someone's going with 'carrot'. "Besides, there's more touching this way."
She finds nothing ominous about their shadow. They're together, that can't possibly be bad.
no subject
They no longer have a sense of what space is required or personal. His space is her space. "Are we almost as tall as Groot now?" Who is obviously the tallest of them all. Matt holds onto her smooth legs and takes a few more steps in the water.
no subject
Verity would argue that she has an excellent sense of personal space, only that her sense of her personal space has expanded to include Matt at all times. This is not a bad thing, in her opinion. After all, he gets all her space in turn. As tall as Groot? The question makes her laugh. "No, not really. He's like, twelve feet tall. We wouldn't be his height even if I was standing on your shoulders."
That said, she leans down to kiss to top of his head. "Don't worry, honey. I do love taller men, but you've got better hair."
no subject
"Twelve feet?" Okay, now he's laughing at himself. Big miss shoot. Groot is a tall son of a gun. That he knew. How tall was hard to place with how his weight is distributed. There's no heavy center.
Matt lifts his head. Her kiss makes him smile so much his eyes near slip shut. "Oh hair is what I have going on, sweetheart?" He's come to be about waist deep in the water, still sloshing around.
no subject
"Mm-hmm. But he usually crouches." Life amongst the humanoid races has taught Groot to diminish himself, she fears. It's hard to talk to him about that kind of thing. She worries for the big guy--he's strong and he's sweet, but wood is brittle and she's seen what happens to trees that are too rigid to bend in a storm. If a little wind can break them, what would a storm of emotions do?
If he's looking for more kisses, he's come to the right place. She'll drop another kiss on his forehead while his head is lifted up to her. "Yes." Then she nuzzles her nose into his hair. "I am a simple woman with simple tastes."
no subject
"You've got a great group of friends, Verity." Including that tree fellow but not at all limited to. Clint. Hunter. Their boss too.
She's only giving him more reasons to keep his head tilted up to her, to the sky if it means more kisses. "Then I'm so happy to inform you that, to my knowledge, Murdock men keep their hair for many, many years."
no subject
"We do," she agrees. What's hers is his. All her friends are potentially his friends too, or else they're not really her friends. "I don't actually know everyone here, you know. Are they your friends, or do we have strangers wandering in?" She wouldn't mind if it were the latter.
Then he's only giving her more reasons to kiss kiss kiss him. "Oh yeah? That's a relief. Let's leave being bald to the Kingpin."
no subject
That we he won't stop enjoying. Matt murmurs in approval. "...you don't? I thought you did. Uh. Some of them I don't know. Frea brought a friend. Hunter too I think?" More mouths to gobble and drink up all they provided. And a good thing. he was starting to think they'd gone overboard. "I guess we can't help it if we throw that good of a party." That people want to join in.
Matt's hands smooth over her legs in return for those each press. So good, so sweet. "Amen to that."
He then laughs. "So tell me, how's the view up there?"
no subject
"I don't. Who's Frea?" She glances over at Hunter and shakes her head a bit. "Yeah, he brought a friend. It's. Awkward." Hey look there goes a change in topic. Oooh. "Yeah, we do all right. And if we'd wanted it private we wouldn't have thrown it in public, right?"
The way his hands move over her legs makes her shiver and sigh. "The view? Fantastic. It's not bad when I'm not looking at you, too." He had to have seen that coming. "I never knew the ocean had so many colors in it."
no subject
"Frea is some kind of special being I guess. She is the May Queen. Very friendly. I think she's been about only a month or so." Friendly enough to pass out pastries with unknown side effects on accident. That's not something he has all the information for really. Matt can't see a motive. Surely that had to have had a motive!
A private party is usually what they have. "It's a nice change of pace, I think."
Always with the compliments. He chuckles and tilts his head to kiss her knee. "Normal ocean right? Not like...there's yellow or purple in there?" He laughs a little at his own question.
no subject
Good of Matt to not point out the person who gave him that lol is at the party. That would not have ended well. "Oh. I haven't had the pleasure, yet. Look at you, being all social outside the Kitchen. Good boy." The fingertips of one hand brush down his forehead and over one cheek before she boops his nose. "It's a nice change of pace, yeah. And this time, Clint and I aren't competing, so there's no divided loyalties."
Always. He deserves them all, and more! "Yes, it's blue. All the blues, and a little gray and white. The colors remind me of a stained-glass window with a leafy branch outside, casting dancing shadows through the colored light. When the water moves, the colors shift around like it's made of silk."
no subject
They can talk about the lol and Frea's motives later. He'd rather not lose Verity or this moment's peace. His head dips under her petting hands. If this is what it feels like to be a good boy he can keep up the effort. "Every now and then I can make friends." The boop gets his nose to scrunch.
"No friendly competition." Though we all know that both have a real streak that goes beyond skill, sibling love and friendship. "I still think your chili was the best."
Matt hums lightly at her description. He's nearly chest deep in the waves, meaning they're going to tickle her pretty painted to nails. This ocean is also more kindly than the real world. It's untouched by the taint of chemicals.
no subject
"You've got good taste in them. You surround yourself with only the best people." Good boys get all the treats. He's always been so good to her, so very good. His scrunched-up nose makes her giggle, and her hands go back to petting while she enjoys the show. Nothing too distracting right now, but she does so love to touch him. "Of course it was, honey, but Clint made a good showing too. Maybe next year things will be different, hm?"
Verity dips a foot into the water and gives a little kick to splash out away from him. She's been trying to get better at describing things for him. It's not easy for her, but the poetry helps--and the inspiration to try. "The sky is so soft. It's a warm blue with lacey white clouds. It's so big it looks like forever."
no subject
"Only the best people. Person." She can pet and pat him to her heart's delight. And in a roundabout way has given herself a compliment. That won't possibly go quietly. She deserves so many good things too. "Will there be a champion belt next year? I think that would be a pleasant change. You wear belts well." His bias is showing. It's called love. And love is not a lie.
The splash makes the droplets plunk and patter. The waves swell and drop in an active peace. Her words are poetry. And he is grateful for descriptions however they come. Verity never has to loan out her eyes, they just give a full sense of completion to his awareness. There's no guessing. "Beautiful," he says softly, imagining the sky as she tells it.
"Come on down and swim awhile," he entreats though it is a ploy to hold her and kiss her too.
no subject
"Mm?" It's a questioning hum that gives way to a tsk of understanding. She sees what he did there. Sneaky of him. "You like the way I wear belts?" Champion belt or no, she's stuck on that. Belts. Really? It's got her giggling, at least. "Uh, thank you. Weirdo." The teasing is softened with a kiss on the top of his head.
Loaning out her eyes isn't required, she knows, but she suspects he likes it and so does she. They help each other with the things the other's not so good at. "It is," she agrees, a smile evident in her voice. "You picked the perfect day for this."
Down? Aw. She was comfy. "Okay." He's not the easiest thing to climb off of, but at least the water will catch her. Thinking about it... she'll draw her legs up and then let herself fall back into the water. He did say he wanted to swim, so, now she's ready for swimming.
no subject
Sneaky compliments with real compliments wherever he can slip them. Even as ridiculous as admiring how she accessorizes. No room to argue there. Victory! Matt beams so much his eyes shut. "Thank you," for calling him a weirdo. He is who he is. And that is part of it.
Two decades of blindness have had people try to describe sights, movies and other things to him. And they have always done it with pity or anxiousness. There is none of that in Verity's heartbeat. That is what Matt likes. It's helpful and supplements what he knows, enhancing it. "The weather happened to agree."
Matt's hands move. He fully intended to help her. "Heyy---" The fall causes a splash and he turns in order to face her when she reemerges.
no subject
She loves who he is. She loves the compliments, sneaky and real and weird. She loves his strange tastes and preferences. Everything. Everything about him, she loves. "You're welcome."
She never does it out of pity. She's sad, sometimes, that he can't see; so is he. But he has a world and it's beautiful. They teach each other about the worlds they live in, finding where they overlap and expanding each other's horizons. These things are shared with poetry, touches, movement, even silence. It's the most intimate of dances. The joke gets a soft laugh from her and she rests a hand on his shoulder to give him a squeeze.
He might turn to where he expects her to be, but no. Not there. She's swimming around him, intending to burst up behind him and give him a surprise hug. "Gotcha!"
no subject
The sadness of being blind is a private thing. Verity is privy to it. It's the same way there's a sadness with how she cannot unsee. It's still beautiful, still real and he meets her there in the overlap in the same way. This is happiness. This is love.
"Verity..." He is laughing, expecting to reach out for her ahead of him. The tackling hug makes him startle and turn. Matt's laugh deepens as he wraps his arms around her. "No. Got you now." Sneaky trick!
