A multiversal plane is not an every day occurrence. Aliens, zombies, sentient robots... they're not a familiar sight either. Despite all of this, Isidor Briar Durant strides into this unfamiliar territory chin up, tailored suit, heels clicking against the ground, as if she owns the place. Viatorus follows nervously behind her, offering her answers whenever the smallest spark of confusion appears in her eyes as she scans area. She takes her time about putting names and terms to the things around her. It is important. She needs to be more than just informed about the Nexus, she needs to be familiar with it.
And then, when she decides she's ready, her intense examination changes with a blink. Isidor clasps her hands together and smiles, becoming the picture of a friendly stranger. "Hello. This is an exciting place, isn't it? Full of interesting people, I'm certain. I'd very much like to get to know you. Your name, a little bit about you and where you come from, maybe."

"Steve Rogers. Nice to meet you."
no subject
"Steve Rogers. It's a pleasure. My name is Isidor Durant, and this is my brother, Viatorus." She gestures to the awkward young man who offers a watery smile and a quick wave, but is soon back to smiling at her new acquaintance. "He's showing me around the Nexus," she leans closer to explain, "but I'm incredibly curious about people and I do like to make introductions."
She'll straighten then, her head tilting to one side and giving him hr full attention. "So, Mr Rogers. Won't you tell me a bit about yourself?"
no subject
"You have an interest in this place?" Steve looks around them somewhat. "I suppose it is rather bizarre. I uhm...I'm from Brooklyn, circa 1941. Seems like there's a lot of us from New York in various times and worlds. I got stuck here a while ago, so...now I do art commissions to make a living." Steve is friendly and all American in his expressions and smiles. Wholesome.
"I'd uhm..I'd be careful makin' trips to an' from here, in case no one told you about the possibility of getting stuck."

"Still, not the worst first question I've heard here. A for effort." Please oh please let this be understood to be meant as friendly teasing.
no subject
"Subtlety might imply an ulterior motive," she replies, an easy shrug presenting a more casual and clearly not offended Isidor. "Besides, I do want to get to know the people here. We're interacting now and it would be good. For a number of reasons." She settles into her smile again. "How are you, Verity?"
no subject
"I'm well, thanks. How have you been enjoying your tour?" Her eyes flick behind them both while they're talking, trying to pick out any bodyguards that might be hanging around trying to look casual. "Did he bring you to the pastry shop with the non-Euclidean kneading machine?"

Excellent~
She won't call him Al. It'd probably confuse him if she tried.
It really would. Not that that's difficult.
Did he even get to popular music growing up?
Wagner, Bach and Debussy? :D?
The best of both worlds: https://youtu.be/JZPSV78iQxg

Samus Aran. I'm a bounty hunter, among other things, in the Facet I come from, and I've been in the Nexus off and on for more than an Earth decade, so I know a bit about the local terrain as well. Welcome to, by the way.
no subject
"Isidor Durant, a pleasure to meet you, Samus Aran." She turns, allowing her to gesture behind her. "This is my brother, Viatorus."
Viatorus waves awkwardly, quickly pulling his hands together again to fidget. "We... We met before. I, ah... I didn't get your name, though."
A fact that clearly doesn't impress his sister, but there is a playfulness to the way she tells him, "Remind me to go over basic manners with you when we go home."

*She arches a brow just slightly, in the suggestion of inquiry.*
Because he's certainly responsible for how a complete stranger safeguards themselves.

It's just best not to assume what regard is considered polite to whom in the Nexus.
"I see you're new to this place. You can rest easy, as there is a field preventing danger within the perimeter of the forum. I'm a violent crimes officer from a version of Japan. Have you had any trouble finding anything since your arrival?"
no subject
"Katsuya Suou. It's a pleasure. Thank you for the encouraging words, they're very reassuring. I'm Isidor Durant. This is my brother, Viatorus." She looks back at the Dreamwalker while he offers a little wave and then it's back to Katsuya. "He's been here for a while, so he's showing me around. But I'd love to know what you think of the Nexus. Is there anywhere I should definitely know about? Anyone I should know about? Organisations or groups of any kind?"
no subject
"While a safe locale for people of many different worlds, the...anti violence field is not absolute. the further one strays from the central forum, the weaker the field becomes. While not likely, it has broken before. Please be careful. Should you ever need help, myself or Officer Steve Austin are well equipped to handle any threats. There are other notable figures, such as Mr...Barton? He's a highly skilled combat individual."

"I'm Harrowheart!" he says without further prompting. "It's great meetin' folks here, ain't it? I think that's half the fun. The other half is all the neat tech. You ever used a phone?"
no subject
a zombieundead. Behind her Viatorus' face drains of colour entirely and he looks at the hand like it might curse him.It will take Isidor a moment to steel herself, but she does take the stranger's hand and give it a shake. Slowly. She doesn't want to rip off the floating hand. Then the smile is back, albeit more uncertain than before. "Isidor Durant. This is my brother, Viatorus..." She turns to him as she introduces him, giving him a look to prompt him to accept Harrowheart's hand. He shakes his head, the motion almost a tremble. Eager to move on, she turns around to smile at the undead again. "It's nice to meet you, Harrowheart. Phones are actually commonplace our world. I take it they aren't in yours?"
no subject
But Isidor's not the only one who can turn a frown upside down lickity-split! He smiles broadly at her and shakes his head. "Nice meetin' the both of you. And naw, nothin' like phones where I come from. We got some tech, sure. Radios, simple robots, motor bikes and tanks... But a phone's somethin' else. Tech for fun instead of fightin'."
He points at Isidor and with a much more subdued smile says, "You must be from Earth, huh? That's where phones come from. You ever been to New York City? That's where all the humans here are from, seems like. I've seen pictures! It's a real gorgeous place. I gotta hand it to the Earthians, y'all achieve a whole lot considerin' your world ain't got magic."

Come on now, we have to make this last. We'll start with Pac-Man.

It would have been way worse if she thought he was uneducated. They'd both be super snobby then.
Meanwhile he's like "Wtf is college?"
Shhh, don't let her realise~

"Well, then, haven't seen you around here before." The man in the blue military uniform, glasses, and a bright smile seems very upbeat as he approaches. His statement is directed at the woman in front of him, though he makes note of and nods to the shy man behind her. While he may not have spoken to Viatorus, the military man certainly knows who the Dreamwalker is.
"Lt. Colonel Maes Hughes," he offers after a beat. A hand is also extended in greeting. "It's nice to make your acquaintance, miss...?" That slight downward tilt of his head as he asks suggests he's looking for more than just her name, if she's any good at drawing conclusions from subtle hints.
no subject
"Isidor Durant." She accepts the hand with a firm grip like she's done a thousand times before. "I am new here. My brother, Viatorus..." She releases her hand to gesture to Viatorus with an open palm. "... is already acquainted with the Nexus. He's showing me around, bringing me to see the sights. It's a pleasure to meet you, Lt. Colonel Hughes." She tilts her head at him, a little confused and more than a little curious. "Are you... part of a Nexus organisation?"
What? You think she wasn't going to focus on getting more information than she gives?

And he signs quickly, still startled.

Well isn't this a clean cut young man in what is clearly some kind of uniform. Military perhaps? He's a Captain of something, that's for sure. And he's wearing a very practiced diplomatic smile.
"First time here?"

Then she offers a hand. "Isidor Durant, and this is Viatorus. It's a pleasure to meet you, Captain Jim Kirk. You seem familiar with your surroundings. Have you known the Nexus long?"

"What is the Hunter's Dream?" he asks, inching closer so that he stands next to Isidor, rather than behind her.
