Trixie's lucky day? (Aka +1 unicorn XD)

That right there sure would be a unicorn with a bright azure blue coat and cornflower blue mane, trotting right out of nowhere into the forum. The thing that she's pulling, looks like a combination of a cart, storefront and small house behind her... It's not a huge wagon by any means, but one gets the feeling that there is more to it than a first glance would have you believe...

Trixie decreased her speed from a canter, to a trot, and finally a full stop as she looked around the area with a puzzled, but also surprised, look on her face. "Hmmm... Well, this is new..." It didn't take her long to spot what she thought had to be the ugliest sign she'd ever seen, and shortly there after, the 'Welcome to the Nexus' brochure. "Nexus?"

Floating the pamphlet over using magic, she started to read it, and looked quite intrigued by the information. "Interesting... I wonder..."

Clearing her throat, she looked around and asked "Could anyone please tell me what the local currency here is?" She paused and considered things a moment. "Also, do I need a permit to sell items here?"

Well, why not? It's not like she had any urgent business anywhere, any chance to for her to gain knowledge, new items and perhaps sell some of her wares, it would be stupidity of the highest order to let an opportunity like this pass her by.

"I can. It will likely still pick up scents over time though... Hmmm... a simple rinse perhaps or..." She's already thinking of the different ways that she can make the spoon better. It would be a great way to see how the magic of this place flows as well.

"Can you come back in about an hour? I think I can have this fixed up by then." She'd also have a chance to eat that nice apple... mmmm...

((I make lots of perogies and potato based things aside from the normal acidic sauces. That horrible metallic taste if you use a metal bowl and spoon... ewwww!))

C'taqa nods, looking quite impressed. "I don't mind if it picks anything up. In fact, I think I'd rather it did."

He sets the rest of the apples on a nearby table with a smile. "Sure, I'll be back in about an hour then."

((Perogies! <3 Now I want perogies. Darn you. :D))

"I should have it ready for you then, see you in a bit."

By the time he comes back, the area around her cart will look somewhat different. She has the awning spread out, a wooden work table set up, and half the bag of apples he'd left her eaten.

It would be easy enough to spot his spoon on the table, a glow of magic around it as Trixie works on putting the finishing touches on it. She's using what looks like a quill made of silver to etch symbols on the end of the spoon handle. The spoon itself looks just like new, only the newer wood is a different shade than the older, giving it a pretty two toned look... it almost looks like the woods had been melted, fused and reshaped instead of just glued.

She's obviously concentrating hard, and boy does she have a lot of tools out on the table.

((Whoops :3 sorry, I'm not sorry? Perogies are tasty. XD))

C'taqa is impressed with what he sees when he returns, ears flicking briefly and tail curling itself into a curious quirk. He doesn't often get the chance to see magic other than his own world's at work, so he'll find a nearby seat and patiently wait, watching Trixie with interest and trying not to disturb her.

He can't help but think the spoon looks pretty darn good, and he can't wait to try it out.

((oh they are! <3 I should learn to make them myself, they don't seem terribly difficult.))

It's only a few moments longer before the quill is set down, and the writing that's covering the spoon glows silver-ish, before fading out of sight. The only bit of metallic color that's left is a tiny stripe of gold around the end of the handle.

Trixie smiles, sets the spoon down and starts using a second quill to start writing a flurry of notes in her floating journal. This was a good project for her, it helped her in understanding the magic flows in this place. It would make getting her cart sorted much less of a hassle.

She'd still not noticed C'taqa's return as she looked over her book and absentmindedly chewed on an apple. If he wanted her attention, he'd have to speak up... Trixie didn't get lost in thoughts often, but when she did, she could spend hours at it.

((They aren't and they are. The filling is dead easy. Make thick mashed potatoes, add cheese, onion, bacon or whatever to them. Bam, filling. It's the dough that can be tough to make. I'd share my recipe, but I don't measure anymore. I've made it far too often to need to.))

He's a little reluctant to interrupt, as he knows how surprising it can be to be pulled out of one's magic, but eventually C'taqa chuckles softly and speaks up. "You look like you're enjoying yourself." A feeling he knows well.

((Well I've actually grown up with a chef/baker for a mum and worked briefly at a bakery myself. I think I can probably do it. If not, that's what practice is for, eh? :3))

Trixie looks up and blinks. "Oh! Sorry! I didn't realize you were back. I was gathering cobwebs." She giggles and looks a touch embarrassed.

"I got your spoon fixed... It's not quite unbreakable, but you won't break it while cooking." She uses her magic to hover said spoon to him. "It should be, well, not quite self cleaning, but mostly. As long as nothing hardens around it, you'll be able to wipe off anything from it easily. Anything that coats it and hardens will have to be boiled, broken or burnt off... but it'll be clean again once you do."

((Good luck! Mine is normally just flour, salt, water, egg and oil... but some people leave out the egg... Have fun? :p))

"It's alright. I know what it's like to get caught up in something."

C'taqa gently fetches the spoon from midair, turning it over and over in his hands to inspect every inch, looking softly impressed. "It feels even better than before. It...this is amazing. Thank you so much."

"I should have set a timer..." She grins a little "I hoped that I'd managed to avoid getting lost in my thoughts... guess not."

"You're welcome." She looks a bit unsure about the praise, but she's glad he likes it. "Let me know how it works out for you? I may need to tweak the enchantments a little if it's not working like it should..."

((Baking and cooking is fun. I just made mint chocolate with vanilla swirl ice cream. yum))

"It says a lot about your love for what you do, though." He grins.

"I'll give it a try as soon as I can. How about I bring you some of what I make with it?"

((oh that sounds so good. ;-; *hungryflail*))

"As long as I don't turn into a hermit, I suppose it's alright."

She can't help but giggle. "If you'd like. If I can eat it, I would be glad to try some of your cooking."

((It was... ;-; It's gone already. The joys of only having a small ice cream maker.))

C'taqa has to laugh. "I've been forcibly dragged outside a few times because I kept forgetting the outside world exists. I know the feeling."

He's already pondering recipes a unicorn might be able to eat. "You can eat things a horse would, right?"

((I need a decent ice cream maker one of these days...))

Trixie grins and tosses her head in the direction of her wagon. "Why do you think I rub around with this thing? I didn't want to turn into one of those hermits with a shop out front that's never open..."

At the mention of what she can eat, she nods. "Same as a pony, pegasus, horse, alicorn... Wait, that likely doesn't help that much depending on worlds does it?" She ponders things a moment. "Um... Stick to plant based foods and I should be fine?" There were so many new worlds and plants too...

((Get one out of season if you can, they get pretty cheap then.))

"I should get a cart," C'taqa teases. Though, considering he could probably make a good business out of that food of his, it might not be a bad idea.

"Will do. I have some great recipes that involve nothing but vegetables."

((I never thought of that. I'll keep it in mind!))

She chuckles. "It isn't for everyone, but it's a great workout." Even with it being lightened and expanded inside, it's still almost twice her weight.

"I'll look forward to it then." A pause "Actually I have a couple of cookbooks that I could probably make copies of for you once I've gotten organized. Granted, I'll have to find them first..." She mutters the last bit quietly as she might have a... bit of a book problem.

((It's great for finding deals on things. I buy seasonal chocolate/candy molds, papers, etc, when the holidays are over, because sometimes they go on sale for more than 50% off. :3 ))

"I can imagine. I could probably use the exercise." He flexes an arm playfully, tail curled once more into a cheeky arch. He's more in shape than he'll admit, really.

"Really? That'd be great. I'm always looking for new recipes. I could make copies of mine too, if you like?"

((hmm, wonder where I'd go looking for that sort of thing...candy molds etc I can get at the craft store but I admit to being sadly not in the know about other stuff. *lol*))

Giggling a little at his antics, she suggests "Well, you could always grow your ingredients yourself too. Plowing the fields always looks like such difficult work..." After seeing more than a few ponies and bulls pulling the plows at home, she was well aware how hard they worked. No one that pulled a plow was ever out of shape.

"That would be lovely. I'm not much of a cook myself, but I'm sure some of my friends would love a chance at some new recipes." She pauses "Don't worry about editing or skipping recipes either... I have books full of recipes more suited for gryphons or dragons too... Ah... How many books would you like?"

((Mostly just check craft stores, 'home' stores that sell cooking equipment, candy making shops online... It's a lot of hunting, but it can really pay off.))

"I do a bit of that, actually. We don't have a very big garden plot, but I pop a few things in there on occasion."

He considers, tilting his head. "Well, I have three I can copy for you. Make it an even trade? Three for three?"

She considers his suggestion. "That sounds good to me..." A pause "Though if you don't mind leaving the books with me for a few days, I can make the copies myself? That is if you don't have a way to easily copy them yourself..." Trixie isn't suggesting it to be rude or anything, she's just used to the creation of books being a bit of a tedious chore for those without unicorn or alicorn magic.

C'taqa nods; he was just trying to think of an easy and quick way himself. "That sounds good. I usually have to transcribe things by hand, so your way definitely sounds faster."

Ah, the joys of magical transcription. It made life a lot easier sometimes.

Trixie gave him a smile. "Then I suppose I will see you in a few days once I've sorted out my cart?" She could hardly wait to get a peek at the books. While she might not cook much herself, it was still neat to see what others had done.

"Sounds good to me." He grins, tail waving happily.

She'll grin back, give him a little bow and once he heads off, will get to work on actually checking her cart over.
