The season is a'changing, the weather is warmer. The forecast calls for high temperature, low humidity and a light breeze. A near perfect day. What better reason to gather the friends and have a good time with a bonfire? Grab a beer, have a seat. Cheery tunes fill the salty air. There's plenty of room and so much to eat.

Matt Murdock is actually dressed for the beach. Still likely more than usual. He burns so easily. There's no way he could have done this alone. Anyone who is anyone in Nexus knows that there is that distinct Verity Willis touch on everything. If the sounds and the sights don't get you, it is going to be whatever Clint has on the grill. That man is magic.

Verity had been intending to come over and give Hunter a hug and a kiss on the cheek and her hat.

Screw that one of his tattoos just jumped off and started talking.

It's like.

She's seen weird before. But. But! "What the hell just happened?"

It's not a tattoo that she's seen on Hunter before, so that would've been weird anyway. But it's definitely understandable that she would find this odd.

The quadrupedal K'da turns to her and bows his head slightly. "Greetings."

Sorry, that was unclear: Ver was reacting to the whole tattoo-to-whatever thing.

She glances at the... whatever that is... and then goes back to looking to Hunter for some kind of an explanation. Because, for one, she wasn't really talking to it. For another, that wasn't an explanation. And for three, she's too weirded out to feel like making the effort to be polite right now.

All cleared up now

Hunter moves to offer his hand to Verity, in case she needs a stabilizing gesture right now. "That is Feris. He is a symbiotic creature who I encountered in the Nexus."

No, you know what? Go back to the inane pleasantries, she'd rather that than things that technically are explanations but still make no sense to her. She's not in danger of falling down, and really Hunter? Give her some credit. She'd have been falling to pieces twice a day back home in this shit made her faint.

"And he lives in your tattoos now?"

[losthunter]

"For the time being, until we can find his doorway and get him back to his host. He is unable to survive very long without the connection." Hunter explains.

Verity's going to be very quiet while she digests this information. It's a lot to deal with, when the implications come into play.

"Next time you decide to play host to something, could ya warn me?"

"This situation is a little unique, but you are right... I didn't think ahead about warning anyone." Hunter rubs the back of his head.

Ver watches his hand for a moment before she blinks and shakes her head, then reaches over to plop her hat down on his head. "You don't want to get a sunburn."

Eyebrow levels are dropping. Crisis averted.

"Thanks." He smiles at her gesture. "Sunburns on a bald head are among the worse possible."

"I can't imagine they're fun. You've got sunscreen? I brought extra if you--" her gaze shifts to include the whatever-it-is is that a dragon? "either of you need some. But I'm not sure I brought that much."

[losthunter]

"I got one with a SPF of 80, and good UV protection. But this is my first time out in the sun, with the tattoos." Hunter is still learning about these type of things, when it comes to skin protection.

[brave_heart_verity]

"SPF 80? Where'd you get that?" She may need to get some for Matt. His poor delicate Irish skin and all.

[losthunter]

"It is a Neutrogena product. I was able to order it online. They also offered 100 SPF products."

[brave_heart_verity]

"Huh. Fancy." She'll have to go shopping tomorrow to stock up. "So. Uh."

She has to be a good hostess. She doesn't want to disappoint Hunter. "Who's your friend?"

[losthunter]

"Verity, this is Faris, a poet-warrior of the K'da." Hunter has some difficulty pronouncing the name of the species. "And Faris this is Verity."

Faris bows his draconic head to her again. By his standards it's a little rude that he's been talked about and not directly to him at this point, but he figures it might be a human cultural thing. "Greetings again, Verity. I must apologize for startling you."

It's also rude to scare people like that, so, join the club you two.

"Hello. You're lucky nobody around here is trigger happy." She's not personally the 'shoot first' type, but she and Hunter are both from a place where people have a right to be armed, dangerous, and stupid.

"You guys hungry?"

Faris hasn't quite grasped yet that humans don't expect things like him to be hanging out on someone else's skin, let alone jumping off. That's normal as breathing to him. "I would not mind eating," he says, and cranes his neck up a little to look at Hunter. Both waiting for his response, and to get a sense of whether or not the type of food here might be something he'd like. The flavors a K'da likes are not necessarily ones found in human kitchens, they've learned.

Hunter is very glad that no one around here is trigger happy. He remembers the violence and the hardships of living in New York.

"We might have to do some creative searching, to find flavors that Faris enjoys," Hunter tells Verity. "His diet is a lot different than ours is."

"Ah. If you'd told me he was coming, I could have prepared for that," she points out. Hunter's seen how seriously she takes this hostessing thing.

"We've got meats, vegetables, fruits, sweets... what sorts of flavors do you like?"

"Meat is preferred, with sweet and bitter seasoning. I have learned that humans do not usually consider engine oil to be edible," Faris says, pulling up the corners of his draconic mouth in an approximation of a smile. He tongue flicks out for a moment, much like a snake's. "This... sunscreen? It does not smell unappetizing either."

"Last time I made him a meal, he added caramel sauce and engine oil to the recipe." Hunter explain lightly.

And he chuckles at Faris noting the smell of the sunscreen. "See what I mean?"

"Engine oil?" Oh-kay that's weird. "No, that's not something we can eat. But I'll keep in mind that's the sort of thing you like."

If he licks her there are going to be problems.

"I'll see what I can do." Her options are limited, but she is determined.

"I do not expect my tastes to be catered to precisely," he assures her. That would be rude, after all. "Together we will find something suitable."
